Senior Data Warehouse/Cognos BI Consultant
Job description
The Senior Data Warehouse/Cognos BI Consultant will be responsible for the design, development and support of client-facing business intelligence solutions. You will apply your expertise with multiple tools to implement bespoke combinations of dimensional data models, semantic data models, integrations, visualizations, security and governance. You will also collaborate closely with the client to gather business requirements, then plan, prepare, implement, organize and deliver end-to-end data warehousing and business intelligence solutions.
Specific responsibilities
- Develop data integration solutions to meet your client’s data needs (ETL/ELT)
- Craft Structured Query Language (SQL) for data integration and validation
- Work with Oracle, SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Snowflake and other SQL databases and perform routine DBA tasks
- Design solutions for financial, marketing, healthcare, retail, insurance and other subject areas by gathering and documenting client requirements
- Use Cognos Analytics to develop best-in-class Framework Manager models, data sets and data modules
- Design and develop dashboards and reports using Cognos Analytics
- Expand your skills with a willingness to learn new tools and methods
- Understand and perform basic project management activities including project documentation and project tracking
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field
- 4+ years of customer-facing consulting experience
- 8+ years of data warehousing and business intelligence implementation experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills and business knowledge
- Ability to perform project management activities
- Expert knowledge of relational databases, SQL and procedural SQL scripting languages
- Extensive knowledge of relational and multidimensional data design and development techniques including star schema, snowflake schema, ETL/ELT and others
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Productive self-starter with strong ability to work in teams or independently
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines
